INNOCENCE and PURITY
Glitteringly pale lotus in colour. A subtle aromatic finesse unfolds with a citrus core of pear, orange blossom and lemon/lime pith. A backbone of chalky Prince Edward County minerality highlighted by flavours of recurring citrus zest and Bosc pear. Ideal as aperitif.
Des arômes fins de citron, de citron vert, et de poire avec des notes élégantes de fleurs blanches. On se délecte de saveurs de zest d’agrume et de pomme verte soutenuent par une minéralité typique de notre terroir. Idéal en apéritif.

Fattier seafood like salmon and higher acidity foods like tomatoes

Cheese – goat, fresh un-ripened ricotta, fontina or mozzarella
Apertif to enjoy while on your yacht … or dingy, whichever you prefer. Also, a great wine to “pregame” before going out with friends or a date night. Light and easy to calm the nerves and doesn’t leave you with that awkward purple stained mouth.

Pinot Gris has for several vintages now been a quiet success story at Huff Estate, with winemaker Frederic Picard working his French-honed sensibility into a fragrant mild mannered but very accurate examples. This has a classic nose of peach pie, honeysuckle and lemon. It is light to mid-weight, generously fruity but firm with that leaner, brittle County edge, and a touch of youthful spritz. Slightly pithy and bitter on the finish. The length is very good to excellent.

Makes reference to “hilling up” the vines to help survive those polar vortex winter weeks when temperatures drop beyond reproach. Buried Vine is a near dry, 100 per cent pinot gris running down the middle of bone density, alcohol and textural feels. Carries a soda-salty note in its aromatic entry, turns towards stone-orchard fruit ripening in the sun and stays a sapid course all the way through. High quality effort in 2020 with a satisfying quench. Drink 2021-2022. Tasted June 2021.
