Fattier seafood like salmon and higher acidity foods like tomatoes

Cheese – goat, fresh un-ripened ricotta, fontina or mozzarella
Apertif to enjoy while on your yacht … or dingy, whichever you prefer. Also, a great wine to “pregame” before going out with friends or a date night. Light and easy to calm the nerves and doesn’t leave you with that awkward purple stained mouth.

Tasted blind, I was very impressed with the rich peachy nose of this PEC pinot gris. What makes it distinct are the savoury, saline, botanical flavours that adorn the palate, giving it a mineral-rich frame. Full of interest and promise.

Bold and cool savoury look at gris or in this case, equally like grigio in Canadian rags. Delivers the riches of pinot’s gains in these parts, of tart citrus behaviour and really consistent from start to finish. Solid construct, unwavering, easy and the kicker being a saltiness all over the palate’s finish. Drink 2022-2025. Tasted blind at NWAC2022, June 2022.

This pinot gris has a beguiling nose: ripe apples and peaches lead, followed by the scent of freshly-picked spring flowers, herbs, and a trail of breadcrumbs. The palate was all about transforming textures for me: tart, firm acidity gives way to sense of fullness and succulence that washes over the palate, leaving a delicate salinity and a varietally characteristic, delicately textured finish in its wake. Best 2022-2025. Tasted August 2022 by Critic Understudy Megha Jandhyala.
