SPLISH SPLASH SUMMERTIME BASH
Get ready for it…the piquancy of citrus, pear and white florals (honeysuckle). Thank you Pinot Gris. The element of Viognier is not immediately perceptible. Give it 15 minutes in the glass. Enter a mouth-filling flavour profile of orange blossom, dried apricot textured with passion fruit and spritzed with citrus zest. Unlikely union of Pinot Gris, providing snappy zesty acidity in bed with the richly textured aromatics and weight of Viognier with the Riesling caught peeking.

An unusual but engaging, fruity if simple blend of pinot gris, viognier and riesling, Huff’s “Weekender” is a floral and barely off-dry wine, with modest depth and concentration, designed for immediate enjoyment – it’s all about the upfront fruit. Chill and crack. Tasted August 2022.

Three grapes get together in this aromatic and appellative Ontario blend. They being pinot gris (likely from PEC), plus viognier and riesling (likely from Niagara). Gathers the effects of more than one body of water (or again, likely one body in two locations 300 kms apart) for a white that is dry enough in which acids and tang outlive, run and do more than what the sugars might want to. Quite refreshing and pretty effective when chilled well on a warm, summer’s day. Drink 2022-2023. Tasted August 2022.
