Are you a synesthete? Do you feel vibrations, sense shapes, see colours, or hear sounds when tasting a wine?
By definition, it’s the stimulation of one sensory pathway that leads or triggers automatic responses in a second sensory pathway. Can we experience wine by using a black ink pen and draw what we perceive as the shape of wine. Alright then, let’s try!
Get out a large drawing pen and coloured markers and have your spouse or partner brown bag the bottle of wine to be drawn. I asked my winery colleague, Melanie Cooke, to draw our yet to be released VQA 2013 Pinot Gris. This is what she came up with.
Our VQA 2013 Pinot Gris is 100% County fruit. It is very unique in that 40% was aged in french oak barrel and 60% in stainless steel tank.
Look for this wine’s eminent release in autumn 2015.
